i canvassed for obama, phone banked -- >> jennifer: where? >> at the university of michigan, go blue. >> jennifer: go blue. carry on. >> yeah. and in 2008 when obama won, i think a lot of people felt that change had already been won, when it was really just the beginning. and 2010 we kind of got complaisant, including myself and i want to get back involved. >> sheldon, i have a proposal for you, and i'm serious. look at me. if you give that $100 million to obama instead of romney i will -- well i won't have sex with you, because we're not married and i'm a nice girl but i will scissor you. [ laughter ] >> jennifer: has sheldon adelson responded? >> well, i'm not privy -- i'm not exactly privy to what happened behind closed doors, but i do know that sheldon adelson saw the video, and he is still contributing $100 million to romney which is not good. >> jennifer: do you have any evidence that the great shlep and these videos this year are going to have an effect of getting young people to the polls. >> we do know in 2008 the first video got 20

president obama has an advantage. but his vote has to come out. i remember in the kerry campaign 2004, we had this enormous rally, all of this momentum. it looked like ohio was going to change the outcome of the election. it ended up where bush flipped it on election day. it was shocking. also on election day i remember back to 2000 where the gore campaign wrote off ohio. the election tightened considerably to where they regretted that they didn't play in ohio right up until the end. so ohio can break your heart. it can resurrect your campaign. my advice to president ohio already 29 times but also the ground game, get the vote out. that's really going to be the determining factor. >> jennifer: well, for sure. and there's a lot of reports out there that the republican ground game is extremely strong as well. so nobody can take anything for granted. one of the interesting tensions on the republican side is the sort of schism between what mitt romney is selling in terms of the agony that's out there and what republican governor kasich is selling whic

they really still want this to be about barack obama. you are going to hear i think at this debate -- and duf is correct -- you have will hear more from romney about himself and make himself a little bit more likable, but you will hear about his policies for the future. but the main thing i think these folks are going to concentrate on is if you like the last four years, boy oh boy you will love the next four. >> jennifer: right. >> they will try to make this more about the president. >> jennifer: what i think is going to be interesting on this, duf is if mitt romney is going to focus on the things that truly have been debunked before then he is going to be in a very awkward position, when he says he is going to prove that what the president said is a lie. >> i think really what is more important is that he is going to point out, look, president obama promised us that unemployment wouldn't be this high -- >> jennifer: that's another lie. he didn't promise that it was going to be 8% or less -- >> just christine roamer his chief economic -

on what he calls president obama's lies. do you think that makes him hyper subject to scrutiny because of the hypocrisy. >> that's what i was wondering. karl rove wrote a piece about how they have to go after the president's untruths. the problem he has got right now is that he cannot explain his program. he will not go into any kind of detail of his secret plan to balance this budget and get the economy on track because there is no plan. you know, if you look at the situation, it would -- he -- he says he is going to increase defense spending. he says he is going to give us all a $5 trillion tax cut or at least the wealthy people and balance the budget. that doesn't take an act of congress. it takes magic. >> jennifer: all right. you are in his war room prepping him for debates, and you know you are going to get this question. how does the math work? what loopholes, deductions will you close or reduce? what would you advise him? >> there are over 200 tax deductions we have out there. his $5 trillion tax increases would cost

it seems it's romney, obama. whatever happened to the band of escaped circus performers that also wanted to be president, in other words, gop also-res, where are they now? newt gingrich child in on his one area of expertise space. he says he likes the romney ryan space plan over obama's but said it's not robust enough. good to see he tuned it down since the stunt he pulled last week. >> rick perry funny he didn't sleep, so his whole campaign felt like a dream. to be honest, we don't remember most of it. rick santorum found the rest of his sweater. that's nice. >> ron paul, he's actually still running. not much has changed. herman cain said if he won the nomination, he would have a "substantial lead over president obama." in that world, obama would have bigger issues to focus on, what with all the flying pigs and mothersmen of the apocalypse flying about. i'm done talking now. >> thank you brett. all right everybody someone's always in our war room, so you should check us out on line at current.com/thewarroom, che
